City Harvest is seeking an intern to assist the Special Events department on a variety of event related tasks. Interested individuals can apply for summer semester fall semester or spring semester (see below available semesters section for specifics). The Special Events Internship provides the student with hands-on event planning experience, which may include assisting with day of logistics and with projects that involve restaurants and chefs, organizing vendor information and creative materials, etc. The Special Events Intern will also assist the department with additional administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assisting the department on one or several of the four major fundraising events: Bid Against Hunger, An Evening of Practical Magic, On Your Plate and Summer in the City
2. Aiding the events team on other events such as restaurant crawls, cultivation events, dinners and sponsorship events
3. Working on restaurant-related projects including the City Harvest Restaurant Guide, American Express Honor Roll Truck, green-market style Mobile Markets, etc
4. Coordinating auction and gift bag product and donation research, compiling ask information and assisting with follow up

Available semesters:
(Dates are flexible depending on student availability)
Summer Semester: end of May to end of August
Fall Semester: early September to early December
Spring Semester: late January to early May

Requirements

1. Undergraduate student interested in Special Events, fundraising, or non-profit work
2. Strong Microsoft office computer skills; including strong knowledge of Word and Excel
3. Excellent oral and written communications skills
4. Strong attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills
5. Able to follow-through and meet deadlines effectively and efficiently

Additional Information:
• This internship is available for summer semester, fall semester or spring semester
• Minimum of 15 hours per week (this may vary)
• This is a “non-paid” internship opportunity
