Our Healthy Neighborhoods program strives to address long-term hunger issues by working to increase access to fresh produce and to provide nutrition education in communities where nutrition-related diseases are common. As part of this initiative, City Harvest manages farmers market-style events called Mobile Markets where we distribute free produce and nutrition information to targeted communities in the South Bronx and Staten Island. Many employees of our corporate partners have spent a morning distributing produce at a Mobile Market and making a direct impact on the lives of residents.
Skip Lunch Fight Hunger is a citywide initiative created by City Harvest Board Member Dana Cowin, editor-in-chief of Food & Wine in which companies and individuals fundraise in their offices or with their friends and family, donating what they would normally spend on lunch to help fight hunger in New York City. By joining us as sponsors to underwrite campaign costs, companies can ensure that all individual donations go directly to City Harvest services. Sponsorship levels range and have varied marketing benefits based on the level of support, including logo inclusion on 70,000 donation bags and thousands of posters distributed to teams. Skip Lunch Fight Hunger is City Harvest's largest public fundraising event promoted by NBC4 and Telemundo47 and Metro New York as well as advertising through subway posters, radio PSAs, and bloggers promoting the campaign.
For over a decade, City Harvest has conducted the annual "Feed the Kids" Food Drive from Mother's Day to Father's Day with the help of schools, businesses and individuals in
New York City. Participants collect non-perishable food for City Harvest to distribute to a network of community programs serving hungry children and their families. As a sponsor of this important event, you will help enable us to collect and distribute tens of thousands of pounds to kids all over the city.
"Truck or Treat for City Harvest" is an initiative designed to engage children in their own communities and empower them to make a difference. On Halloween day, City Harvest asks children all over New York City to collect change for City Harvest while they go trick-or-treating. Your sponsorship of Truck or Treat helps us distribute Truck or Treat school kits for children to collect money for their fellow students.
Celebrate the spirit of the season while increasing your visibility. City Harvest offers personalized holiday cards for businesses to send to colleagues, clients and friends while helping to feed hungry New Yorkers. Sales from our holiday cards help keep our trucks on the road feeding hungry men, women, and children throughout New York City.
To order your cards or request samples today, contact Daniel Morgan at 917.351.8762 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Sponsor a truck and make a valuable impact on the community while displaying your brand on trucks well-known in every area of the city. Just $175,000 sponsors a City Harvest truck route (lease, fuel, tolls, insurance, driver, etc.) for an entire year - and for that entire year, your company's name and logo are emblazoned on one of our trucks as it travels through the five boroughs. Truckside advertising such as this can cost up to $200,000 a year, plus this sponsorship is tax-deductible.
Financially sponsoring a City Harvest special event is a great visibility opportunity for your company, and events themselves offer a unique opportunity to entertain clients. More than 2,000 guests attend at least one of City Harvest's signature events, and invitations are mailed to between 3,000 and 6,000 supporters. City Harvest holds four major fundraising events throughout the year:
Event sponsorship opportunities range from $5,000 to $50,000. To learn more about how you can sponsor a City Harvest event, please contact Naomi Giges, Director of Special Events and Chef Partnerships, at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
There are a variety of ways to support City Harvest in your office. Many companies have implemented workplace giving campaigns where employees can choose the non profit organizations they want to support. If your workplace giving campaign includes United Way, you can write in "City Harvest" on the United Way contribution form. When you select City Harvest, a portion of your choosing is deducted from your paycheck and directed toward feeding hungry New Yorkers. Even a small amount can make a huge difference in someone's life.
Your company may also have a matching gift program, through which they have pledged to double or triple any employee's donation to City Harvest. For details, click here.
Fundraisers in the office, at corporate parties, and other events are another easy way to help fight hunger. You make a donation in lieu of holiday gifts to vendors, holiday parties, or retreats, or hold a fun Friday Jeans Day in exchange for contributions.
We are always happy to provide your company with materials or to come to your event to explain our work!

Skip Lunch Fight Hunger is a citywide initiative that asks individuals to donate their lunch money to City Harvest. In 2009, thousands of New Yorkers from hundreds of corporate offices, friends and family teams, and individuals participated in the campaign, raising over $400,000 to help feed over 22,000 children and their families for the entire summer.
Starting a team is easy, and a fun way to bring your colleagues, friends and family together. Team captains are individuals that champion the cause by recruiting others to fundraise and help City Harvest to feed hungry children and their families.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the date for Skip Lunch Fight Hunger 2010.
