Our Impact
1.6 million New Yorkers currently live in poverty, struggling to afford basic necessities such as rent and medical care and put food on their tables.
- We rescue some 100,000 pounds of food each day.
- We regularly give food to nearly 600 community programs.
- It costs City Harvest 27 cents to rescue a pound of food.
In our first month, City Harvest served 55 community food programs in New York City. Today we help feed people at nearly 600 programs. Our goal is to grow our operations to address the demand for emergency food.
