PAST EVENTS

On Your Plate 2006

Speaking to a full room at our second annual On Your Plate luncheon on Monday, June 5th, best-selling author, health columnist for The New York Times and long-time City Harvest supporter Jane Brody told the audience “I hate being hungry,” and she can’t stand the thought of other people being hungry either. For that reason, she donated her time to help City Harvest raise over $160,000 to help feed hungry New Yorkers. Co-chairs Carol Atkinson, Joy Ingham, Gillian Miniter, Emilia Saint-Amand and Topsy Taylor welcomed close to 200 guests to this fabulous afternoon at the Mandarin Oriental, New York. The event raised enough money to help us feed more than 2,500 hungry men, women and children for an entire year. Thank you to our co-chairs, Jane Brody and everyone else who helped to make this event so successful!

Hosts Susan & Gary Rosenbach, co-chairs Sheri Gellman, Pamela Kaufmann, Heather Mnuchin and Linda Slotnick Petrone, and dinner chairs Arthur F. Backal and Timothy White helped to put together a star-studded evening that raised more than $1.2 million for City Harvest. The Practical Magic Ball, which took place April 4th at Cipriani 42nd Street, honored the New York City Rescue Mission with the Heart of the City Award and Steven T. Mnuchin with the Star of the City Award for their commitment to ending hunger in our city.

More than 600 guests were treated to special appearances during the program by actors Edie Falco and Michael Imperioli, the Food Network's Rachael Ray, and Richard Brown, host of Movies 101 on AMC. Actor Josh Lucas and Paul Teutul Sr. of American Chopper lent their star power to our live auction, which featured a one of kind Orange County Chopper auctioned off for $50,000; a dinner in the winner's home prepared by Eric Ripert; and two tickets to the 2007 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this the most succesful Practical Magic Ball in City Harvest's history!

Six hundred foodies were treated to tastings from more than 45 of the city's best restaurants and chefs at City Harvest's 11th annual Bid Against Hunger on October 25th at the Metropolitan Pavilion. The evening, which featured live and silent auctions of once-in-a-lifetime prizes, raised almost $440,000 to help fight hunger in New York City. Some of the evening's top auction prizes included a stay at the soon-to-be-opened Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman with a personally prepared dinner for two compliments of Eric Ripert; a five-course dinner for 20 in the winning bidder's home prepared by Michael White and Mario Batali; and a walk-on part in an Open City film with box office stars Jessica Alba and Hayden Christensen.
