FreshDirect is one of the nation’s leading online food brands and grocery providers, known for its convenient home delivery service and the manufacture of fresh, delicious food. Changing the way customers shop for groceries since 2002, the company uses a direct distribution model with in-house, overnight production that cuts out the middleman and helps FreshDirect offer farm-fresh food at prices up to 20% lower than conventional grocery stores.
Fresh Direct donated 840,000 pounds of food to City Harvest this year, including produce, dairy and other healthy foods.
Greenmarket
Council on the Environment of New York City (CENYC) operates 50 Greenmarkets in all five boroughs that help to improve communities, preserve farmland, and ensure a continuing supply of fresh, local produce for all New Yorkers. Since 1976, Greenmarket’s staff, volunteers and farmers have been working together to keep nearly 200 regional family farms in business, preserve over 30,000 acres of farmland, provide EBT/Food Stamps at 23 Greenmarkets, and offer educational programming to nearly 5000 school children each year. CENYC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that improves New York City’s quality of life through environmental programs like Greenmarket that transform communities block by block and empower all New Yorkers to secure a clean and healthy environment for future generations.
Green Valley Onion Company
Green Valley Onion Company is one of the Mid-Hudson Valley’s largest suppliers for the Eastern Seaboard and Midwest. They are located in the Black Dirt region of the Hudson Valley in the heart of Onion Country. Green Valley cleans, sizes, and packages all varieties of onions in their modern facility. Green Valley Onion Company donated 420,000 pounds of high-quality onions to City Harvest this year.
D’Agostino
It began in 1932. But the history started in the mid-1920s when two teenagers--Nicola (Nick) and Pasquale (Patsy) D’agostino set out from their home in L'Aquila, Italy to seek their fortunes in the United States. By 1931 they had worked as pushcart peddlers, mill workers and apprentice butchers - anything to earn a buck.Today, the chain is still owned and operated by the D’Agostino family. Nicholas D’Agostino, Jr. is the chairman and CEO and his son, Nicholas D’Agostino, III is the President and COO. They guarantee all their products and provide the superior customer service whether it is in their stores or online grocery shopping service.
D'Agostino donated 400,000 pounds of nutrient rich food to City Harvest this year, including produce, canned items and more.
