How did you get involved with City Harvest?
I was introduced to the organization and went to one of the earlier Galas at The Waldorf and immediately was drawn to the cause and wanted to get involved. I joined the Food Council and then became a Board Member years later.

Why is hunger an important issue for you?
In my line of business I deal with such elaborate events and I see how much food is presented and served, but on the other side there are so many people not as fortunate, who need food for their families to just survive. It is what drives me to contribute and make more and more people I know aware of the hunger problems that exist. I continue to discuss this within the hospitality industry and try to get more people involved every day.

How has your involvement with City Harvest affected your outlook on food and/or hunger in New York City?
I am so inspired by the great people that work for City Harvest and what they have been able to do for so many people in need. I am also reminded of how more challenging times have become. Even though we are in probably the most dynamic city in the world I try to never forget that we all have to give back to as many as we can in whatever way possible.

What inspired you to work in the hospitality business?
I have always loved people and food since I was a kid. I just keep working hard and building upon my passions and always try to have fun doing it.

What is the latest project you are working on?
I am working on a few catering and special event projects which will expand my portfolio and be able to offer more exciting opportunities to my friends and clients.

What is your favorite hidden gem of a restaurant in New York City?
Tough question, because lately if I am not eating at T-Bar then I am eating at home. My wife is a great cook.

What is your favorite type of food to eat?
Either Italian or Chinese, it depends on what day of the week it is.

Do you cook? What is your favorite type of food to make?
Yes, when I have time. Not as much lately, but with the summer approaching I am looking forward to some serious barbeque action. I am pretty proficient at that. I can handle a fairly large crowd at the house when I get going.

What can you not live without in your kitchen? What are your favorite food items?
The Nespresso machine. It gets me going in the morning. I love ice cream and sorbets, especially at night after a long day.

What is your favorite junk food?
A great burger - Is that junk food?

What is in your refrigerator?
A lot. We have several kids at home. All the basics and then some.

What was the last best meal that you had?
I would have to say at Per Se. They really have it together in so many ways.
