Why did you get involved with City Harvest?
As I was working my way through the industry, a lot of other chefs were always involved. Once I became an executive chef, I realized how important it was to give back.

Why is hunger an important issue for you?
Some of the best times in my life have always been associated with food. The idea that some people are not able to share these experiences has always touched my heart.

How has your involvement with City Harvest affected your outlook on food and/or hunger in New York City?
The amount of good City Harvest is able to do is unbelievable to me. It’s a charity that you are absolutely able to see the fruits of their labor.

What is your favorite hidden gem of a restaurant in New York?
Crispo and Extra Virgin

What is your favorite type of food to eat?
Casual and relaxed

What is your favorite type of food to make?
I like accessible and tasty food. I think the key is to season well.

What can you not live without in your kitchen?
Japanese mandolin to slice my garlic

What is in your refrigerator?
Milk so I can have cereal with my kids in the morning. 

What inspired you to focus on being a chef as a career?
I got sucked in by the energy and camaraderie. I also like making people happy.

What is your favorite junk food?
Egg McMuffin

Do you have any suggestions for people on a limited budget that would still like to enjoy a nice meal out?
