On January 13, Governor Cuomo provided his State of the State Address and there are some really important wins for the people we serve!
Most importantly, the Governor plans to increase eligibility for the SNAP program. Across the country, persons are eligible for SNAP if they earn 130% of the poverty line. Now, in New York State, that eligibility is 150%, which will extend eligibility to about 750,000 households. This will deliver about $688.5 M in additional benefits to New Yorkers with an estimated economic impact of $1.27 B. Read more about key proposals from Governor Cuomo's State of the State address.
City Harvest is convening the New York City Alliance for Child Nutrition Reauthorization, a group of diverse stakeholders working together for a strong Child Nutrition Act.
