Our Work

City Harvest pioneered food rescue in 1982, and since then we have collected and delivered over 545 million pounds of healthy food.

This year, City Harvest will collect 55 million pounds of nutritious food from farms, grocers, restaurants, and manufacturers. We’ll deliver this food free of charge to 500 soup kitchens, food pantries and other community food programs across New York City. Our mission is to help feed the nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers struggling to put food on their tables.

City Harvest also recognizes that good nutrition is critical to eliminating hunger. Through our Healthy Neighborhoods initiative, we work with community partners to bring more fresh produce and nutrition education to low income neighborhoods across New York City.
