Volunteering with City Harvest is a great way to learn about our work and to fight hunger in New York City. Is your organization already a volunteer partner? Click here to login.
We offer dynamic team building opportunities that are fun, engaging and educational. Volunteers will walk away with knowledge about City Harvest, hunger in New York City and a clear understanding of how their support made a difference. We offer volunteer projects that accommodate group sizes as small as 5 and as large as 50 and take place in the morning, afternoon or after work hours.
At our open-air Mobile Markets, your group will distribute thousands of pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables offered free of charge to some 500 families who qualify and live in the area. Your group will assist in set-up, food distribution and clean-up.
Rescue thousands of pounds of nutritious produce at a Greenmarket rescue! At the close of the market volunteers collect excess food from farmers and load it onto City Harvest trucks, which deliver the food directly to community programs across the five boroughs. The collection takes about two hours and can be done right after work.
Working as a team at our Food Rescue Facility, volunteers repackage thousands of pounds of bulk produce into family-sized units for more efficient distribution to our network of over 500 community food programs. Depending on group size, repacks can be exclusive volunteer experiences or shared with other groups.
Do you have employees or students who are passionate about nutrition education? If you answered yes, we'd love to talk to you! City Harvest welcomes new partners to help us provide quality nutrition education courses, cooking demonstrations, and budget shopping workshops in our Healthy Neighborhoods.
