I, [Insert Your Name], oppose the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s proposed rule restricting SNAP eligibility. This change would cut SNAP benefits for 3 million people across the country. In New York City, about 1.6 million people depend on SNAP, and under this proposed rule, tens of thousands may potentially lose their benefits.

Federal nutrition programs like SNAP were designed by Congress to help families, children, seniors, and hardworking individuals get the food and nutrition they need. This rule goes against Congress’ intent to protect SNAP through the 2018 Farm Bill, and it undermines our country’s commitment to supporting our neighbors who are struggling to make ends meet.

As a New Yorker and supporter of City Harvest, New York City’s largest food rescue organization, I’m worried that this rule will put more of my neighbors at risk of food insecurity.

The Administration should immediately withdraw its proposal.
