Canstruction® New York is going virtual to help feed New Yorkers in need!

For nearly three decades, Canstruction has brought together teams of engineers and architects to build larger-than-life ‘Cansculptures’—works of art and engineering sculpted entirely with cans of food—that, after being judged, are deconstructed and donated to City Harvest to help feed our neighbors in need.

This year, Canstruction went digital, with teams creating virtual 3D renderings of Cansculptures. Instead of donating the cans of food after judging, each team had a fundraising goal to donate the equivalent of or greater than the amount of food of the structure. The virtual Cansculptures were judged by an experienced, multidisciplinary panel in January, including our Food Council members Melba Wilson and Ron Ben-Israel.
