Webinar on Child Nutrition Reauthorization with Equity Advocates

On May 13, 2021, City Harvest and Equity Advocates Hosted a Webinar on Child Hunger and a New Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act

There is growing momentum to pass a new Child Nutrition Reauthorization (CNR) Act, as part of the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act. This important act legislates federal school meal and child nutrition programs, including national school lunch and breakfast; summer meals; the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); and other child and adult food care programs. The timeliness of the long-overdue CNR Act is amplified by record high child food insecurity rates, with Black, Indigeneous, Latinx, and Asian children and their families being hit the hardest by disrupted access to free school meals and overall higher job loss, causing some parents to have to choose between paying their rent and feeding their children.

If you weren’t able to join City Harvest and Equity Advocates for the webinar to learn about the key programs and policy issues, how the pandemic response has impacted the national debate, the process for reauthorization and debate timeline, and how you can engage in collective advocacy, watch the recording here.
