Repack to Give Back

This annual week-long event brings together hundreds of New Yorkers from companies all across the five boroughs to repack rescued fresh produce and non-perishable food into family-sized meal boxes for the holidays.

Mobile Market

These farmers market style distributions deliver fresh produce free of charge 18 times a month across all five boroughs. You will distribute thousands of pounds of fruits and vegetables to hundreds of families.

Time commitment: 8:45am to 12pm
Minimum group size: 5; maximum group size: 15

Greenmarket Rescue

Rescue thousands of pounds of fresh, seasonal produce that would otherwise go to waste at Greenmarkets across the city . At the close of the market, volunteers collect excess food from local farmers and help load it onto City Harvest trucks, which immediately deliver the food to soup kitchens and community food programs, such as a faith-based institution or social service agency, that distribute food to people in need. Unlike soup kitchens, which offers prepared meals, food pantries generally provide unprepared food for pick up." data-hasqtip="1" aria-describedby="qtip-1">food pantries across the city.

Corporate Repacks

Your team will sort thousands of pounds of bulk produce into smaller, family-sized portions. Repacking this produce helps City Harvest make deliveries to hundreds of community food programs across the city.

Time commitment: Varies, around 3 hours

Food Show Rescues

New York City is home to some of the biggest food trade shows in the world. Your team will ensure that high quality, specialty food doesn’t go to waste by collecting it from vendors at the end of trade shows such as the Fancy Food Show and New York Produce Show.

Repack on the Road

Repack on the Road provides a way for corporate partners to volunteer with City Harvest in their own office. We come to whatever location is most convenient for your group, provide all the packing supplies and food, organize and run the event, and deliver the snack packs to children around New York City.
