City Harvest currently has over 1,800 volunteers who provide invaluable support to City Harvest's mission.

According to the Bureau for Labor Statistics, the dollar value for an hour of volunteer time is $28.04 in the state of New York. This means that this year alone, the volunteers at City Harvest saved our organization close to $250,000 in operating costs through 8,500 volunteer hours! This is enough to feed over 3,000 hungry New Yorkers for an entire year!

Volunteer Orientation

imageTypically, volunteer orientations take place on the second Tuesday of every other month with more frequent orientations at peak times of the year (October –December.) Orientations are held at the City Harvest offices (575 Eighth Avenue, 4th floor) from 6pm to 7pm. By attending an orientation, prospective volunteers will learn about the mission and operations of City Harvest as well as the ways to support the organization through the donation of time and talents. Volunteer applications are distributed for submission at the orientation.

After attending an orientation, you will receive weekly updates as to how you can donate your time to City Harvest.

If you have any questions regarding the volunteer program or would like to RSVP for an orientation, please contact:
