City Harvest currently has over 2,000 volunteers who provide invaluable support to City Harvest's mission.

According to the Bureau for Labor Statistics, the dollar value for an hour of volunteer time is $28.04 in the state of New York. This means that this year alone, the volunteers at City Harvest saved our organization close to $250,000 in operating costs through 8,500 volunteer hours! This is enough to feed over 3,000 hungry New Yorkers for an entire year!

Volunteer Orientation

imageTypically, volunteer orientations take place on the second Thursday of every other month with more frequent orientations at peak times of the year (October –December.) Orientations are held at the City Harvest offices (575 Eighth Avenue, 4th floor) from 6pm to 7pm. Space is limited, so please register for an orientation by emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). By attending an orientation, prospective volunteers will learn about the mission and operations of City Harvest as well as the ways to support the organization through the donation of time and talents. Volunteer applications are distributed for submission at the orientation.

After attending an orientation, you will receive weekly updates as to how you can donate your time to City Harvest.

Other Ways You Can Help:

Ask your employer about their Volunteer Time Matching programs. Similar to matching employees’ charitable contributions, many companies will also match employee volunteer hours with a monetary donation. City Harvest tracks all individual volunteer hours and will provide a letter of verification at your request. You can easily double your impact through a Volunteer Time Matching program.
